Kimberly Ketring

Kimberly KetringSometime around 1980, I adopted my first pet at IndyHumane. I was in my first apartment and getting my first pet on my own. I adopted a kitten named Sherlock to be company for a one-year-old stray that I had taken in. Since then, I have adopted three others - Clementine, Chloe, and Gabby (one kitten and two adults). I have been lucky to have my pets live to be 16 or 17 years old, so I haven't adopted for a while. I have also taken in a few more strays. I try to keep the current clan to two or three at one time!

I have also volunteered at IndyHumane over the years - and plan to be back once I retire. I love dogs and all animals as well as cats. Another goal for retirement is I plan to come to your facility and adopt one or two dogs to join my cat crew. I have found IndyHumane to be a place that truly puts the well-being of each animal first and tries their best to take care of each of them and find them good, kind, forever homes. It is my honor to support IndyHumane and all the creatures there.

Pictured is Kimberly with pet Gabby at Christmas. "I adopted her at IndyHumane about eight years ago. She was three years old and had already had three owners! The last one abandoned her in a parking lot and a kind person brought her to the shelter. Her name was Ramona. But when I brought her home, I changed her name to give her a new name for a new and better life - so she is Gabby or Gabriella. She is the most affectionate cat I've ever had, and she has thrived since I've gotten her. She has become very beautiful and adds so much love to my life."
